As a LAKE DISTRICT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER I am pretty lucky that I get to work in some great venues and my goodness the GILPIN LAKE HOUSE was definitely one of them. James and Jenny opted to have a very intimate wedding here with only eleven people and had hired the place out for the whole weekend so they could relax with their nearest and dearest. I was lucky enough to be their photographer for the day and so I got to join in the fun.

It was a lovely summers morning when I headed up the motorway to the Lake District, one of my all time favourite places. The girls were busy getting their hair and make up done when I joined them whilst the boys were relaxing having breakfast. With only eleven guests the atmosphere was nice and relaxed, well that is until the boys decided to go for a pre wedding dip in the lake!

To work their way up to the big swim first they had a quick dip in the swimming pool before heading outside ready to dive in. On the count of three in they leapt, rather them than me I say as even though it was a nice day it still looked pretty cold! After a quick swim it was back to the hot tub to warm up and this is where I left them whilst I took some photographs around the grounds before heading back to see the girls.

As a wedding venue the Gilpin Lake house offers the ultimate in luxury and relaxation. Set in tranquil grounds with its own lake and resident herd of deer it it is designed with exclusive use in mind. With beautiful woodlands, rowing boats on the lake, a pretty garden, boat houses, hot tubs and even a gorilla in the trees is really is a beautiful place for a wedding in the Lake District.

Once the girls were ready and Jenny looked amazing in her dress it was time to go and say I do. A gorgeous ceremony followed with a few happy tears and soon the new Mr and Mrs emerged onto the lawn outside for some fizz and photographs. After a few family pictured I took the bride and groom for a wander around the grounds and I was definitely one happy wedding photographer as I was spoilt for choice when it came to great back drops! Before the pair and their family set down for  a delicious wedding breakfast they just had time for a quick go in the rowing boats on the lake. Whilst Jenny looked a little apprehensive at first the pair, along with the bridesmaids and the dads were soon enjoying themselves on the lake.

I had a great time at James and Jenny’s wedding. The Gilpin Lake house is certainly an amazing venue and perfect if you are having an wedding with just your nearest and dearest as this pair did or equally if you are having lots more guests. I hope you have enjoyed this selection of Gilpin Lake House wedding photography from the pairs big day, If you are having your own wedding here in the lake district and are still on the hunt for your wedding photographer I would love to hear from you as I cannot wait to return to this rather fabulous venue.
