Good morning everyone, as you all know I am wedding photographer living in a little village outside Rochdale just on the Lancashire / Yorkshire border so this means I am lucky enough to shoot lots of wedding across the border in this beautiful county. In fact this year I would say my weddings are a fairly even fifty fifty split across  Lancashire and Yorkshire. Here we explain why we love “Gods own Country” and think its a great place for a wedding.

Yorkshire: The Perfect Backdrop to Your Big Day

Ever fancied saying your vows against the dramatic backdrop of rolling hills, luscious green fields and breathtaking scenery? One of our favourite wedding locations is Yorkshire and it’s not difficult to see why so many couples choose to get married there.

Steeped in history and famous for its beautiful valleys, patchwork fields, dry-stone walls, cascading waterfalls and charming picturesque towns and villages, it has an overwhelming choice of beautiful venues where you can tie the knot. Whether you want a traditional church wedding, a country retreat, a stately home or something a bit different, Yorkshire really does have it all.

For those wanting the full-on fairy tale experience, there are a number of castles set in acres of idyllic countryside. Many of these are home to grand halls and extensive gardens to wow your guests and provide the dramatic backdrop to your photographs that you will cherish for a lifetime. If you prefer something a little more low-key without scrimping on scenery, there are many stunning hotels in the Yorkshire Dales which provide beauty on a slightly smaller budget. Robin Hood’s Bay is well worth a visit if cliff-top views and panoramic coastal scenery are at the top of your agenda.

While many people choose Yorkshire as a wedding location for its exquisite rural landscape, you do not need to be a fan of the outdoors to guarantee spectacular wedding photography in this county. Those who appreciate the buzz of the city more than they enjoy the countryside should not ignore the impressive Victorian, Edwardian and Georgian architecture on offer at the heart of cities such as Leeds, York and Harrogate. Here, you will find historic wedding venues which have been sympathetically restored to give a modern feel, while retaining the elaborate, age-old aesthetics of sweeping staircases and crystal chandeliers.

Not only does it boast an impressive array of venues, Yorkshire is renowned for being one of the happiest places in Britain, so you can be sure to be surrounded by smiles on the best day of your life.

If you are planning your own wedding in Yorkshire I would love to chat to you about your wedding photography so please get in touch here as I would love to hear from you. Happy Planning everyone.
